Week 17: Day 113-119

I started growing Lanugo. Lanugo is temporary hair that grows on my head and body. Most of it disappears by the time I'm born though. No one seems to know what this temporary hair is for though. Ohhhhh! Intrigue! Mystery! I have 2 theories. One is that the hair grows naturally but isn't strong enough to stay in place. My other theory is that the hair sets up the places where I will eventually grow real hair.

It does play a part in protecting my skin though. The Lanugo, dead skin, and oil from my oil glands form a creamy-looking substance known as the "vernix caseosa". This vernix coating also helps protect my sensory cells and developing glands. I'm so smart, maybe I'll be a scientist!

Mommy's not as constipated now since she's taking a fiber supplement. She's been feeling little flutters here and there. Don't worry Mommy, I'll get big and strong real soon and you can feel me move and kick all the time! Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! My current goal is to grow another 5 inches or so such that I'll be about 8-10 inches in length by the end of this lunar month.

Mommy and Daddy went to the doc and everything was great! Daddy heard my heartbeat! And it wasn't over the telephone! Hurray Daddy! See, I'm really in here after-all! :)

Mommy had another spotting incident :( She took it easy again and everything was fine. She's a little nervous about it. What's going to happen? Is the spotting normal or could something be wrong? Tune in next week. Same Baby Time! Same Baby Channel!

OOOOOOOOH DRAMA!
