Week 11: Day 71-77

We arrived in Manassas, Virginia on Thursday, March 8, 2007. This is where I'm probably going to be born!! Mommy still doesn't really need maternity clothes since she can wear the clothes she had before she lost all that weight, but she is watching where she's walking. Don't wanna slip on what little snow or ice is left.

And now for our regularly scheduled body parts segment: My intestines are migrating from the umbilical cord to the abdomen. The placenta grows a little slower than I do, and weighs only about a mere ounce. Morning sickness occurs in about 50% of pregnant women. I'm happy Mommy hasn't really had any morning sickness, just the few days worth of nausea from the antibiotics. I'll be born with about 300 bones in my body, but as I grow into the perfectly wonderful child I know I will be, many of them will fuse together to make the total the normal 206 bones. My liver has started to secrete bile and my pancreas is starting to produce insulin. I won't actually digest food for a while, all that's still coming preprocessed from Mommy's bloodstream. It's like ordering delivery every day!

Mommy is being very careful to ensure she has all the right vitamins and nutrients we both need. She hasn't had too many food aversions but she has been craving a lot of junk food and totally eating whatever she wants. She couldn't fit into her jeans though. D'oh! Sorry mommy. It's really my fault. I'm getting big. I have my baby teeth and gums now! I even have vocal chords.

With that, I leave you with this Hindu Proverb:

What war is to man, childbirth is to woman.
